If you have limited time, and want to visit the prime areas and do the best routes, it is well worth your while to employ a local guide. This can be for anything from a half-day ascent of Table Mountain, to a two-week road trip. To be sure of your guide’s ability, make sure that he / she is a member of SAMGA (South African Mountain Guides Association). All certified
guides are also instructors, so why not use your time here productively, to hone your skills?
